The Fifth Mage War Series

Mary's Fairy Tale

Mississippi Missing (2021)

  • "This is a luscious, playful fantasy with an enchanting cast."
  • "The story pulled me along, at times tense, leaving me to wonder what would happen, other times more philosophical. A step or three up from most fae stories I’ve read."
  • "This was a wonderfully visual experience. The descriptions and experiences were well written."

Origin Duology

Sirens Unbound (2019)

  • "I liked the whole siren subculture and how different it was from the mages and the fae. I also liked how familiar fantasy themes (oracles, spells, etc.) were mixed in with modern science (mri’s & operations)"
  • "Once I saw where the book was going I loved it, but I could see why it might get put down a lot in the first half. I promise you though if you pick it up and keep reading it’s worth it. The plot comes together, the characters intertwine and the story ends beautifully."
  • "So, the book starts a little slow, it bounces from character to character a lot, and can be a little 'much', but don't give up! I was about 20% in before I was hooked! It took me about a month to read this, but the last 80% was in the last few days."
  • "Members of the Bant family become entwined in an upcoming mage war in this epic urban fantasy novel about sirens, fae, and family ties." - read on Reedsy

Mages Unbound (2020)

  • "This book just continues where the first book left off, but it was a faster read. The intricacies introduced in the first book are now becoming clearer. I would not read it as a standalone. Because I read Sirens Unbound first, it did not take much to figure out the continuation of the storyline."
  • "the one thing that held me back to enjoy the books is first the difficult words used, I had to stop reading and look up the words"
  • "I'm happy to report that this book does not suffer from the dreaded 'middle book syndrome.' On the contrary, it shines quite brightly all on its own! "

Reviews are CRITICAL for indie authors

The internet has utterly transformed the marketplace for books. One of the more significant changes has been changing perception of online reviews. Reviews have come to matter as much as a good cover design! Unfortunately, this means that reviews and ratings have “lost their traditional function. They [are] no longer there to evaluate the book or even describe it but simply to vouch for its credibility, the way doctors put their diplomas on examination room walls.” (Check out my blog on this topic.)

On this page, I've excerpted from a few of the reviews (good & bad) because I think they can help you decide if my books are right for you.
